3.30 pm – 6.30 pm
Sept. 29th, 2017
Joe Bill (US) „PERSONAL DIAGNOSTIC: IMPROVISING AS YOU“
3.30 pm – 6.30 pm
Are you an Improviser that often gets one of these 2 notes, “You usually play characters that are close to yourself” or “You should try to play characters that are closer to yourself”? I want to help give specificity to these 2 pieces of feedback so that you can make them more personally actionable. What does it really mean to improvise as YOU?
We will begin the workshop by declaring the feedback that each of you receives, both from others AND from yourself, and see how that’s working in serving your goals, hopes & dreams as you are improvising. We will play with the ways you can receive feedback and immediately make it actionable. I will share tools that can help unlock yourself from “being in your head”, for whatever reason.
You will do lots of scenes and have lots of interactions in exercises. I’ll offer feedback, tools & skills that can help you be more accepting, aware of and confident in the Strong, Vulnerable, Subjective & Objective PRESENCE OF YOU.
Sept. 30th, 2017
Goran Završnik (SI) „WHEN TO LEAD AND WHEN TO FOLLOW“
10.30 am – 1.30 pm
Who shot first in Episode IV – Greedo or Han Solo? Doesn’t matter, we all remember this famous movie scene because of the incredible Cantina band. Goal of this workshop is to encourage musicians to strongly intervent, break routines, help actors when they are stuck in improv theatar. Both, Impro theater musicians and actors are welcome on this three hour research.
Amber Nash (US) „CREATING YOUR OWN FORMAT“
3.30 pm – 6.30 pm @ Königsegggasse 10, 1060 Vienna – VHS Clubsaal
In this workshop, you can learn how to take the things that you love about improv and turn them into your own unique improv format. We will be doing a lot of talking and writing in the first portion of the class and get on our feet in the second half. So know that you won’t be on your feet improvising the entire time. This workshop is for seasoned improvisers with a minimum of 2 years improv experience.
Johanna Seiler (DE) „TOUCHING THE ART AND EXPERIENCING THE JOY OF VOCAL IMPROVISATION“
3.30 pm – 6.30 pm @Gumpendorfer Str. 67/4, 1060 Vienna – TAG Rehearsal Room
The form of free vocal improvisation I practice and teach has many fascinating facets. As an art form in my opinion its ultimate demand is the synthesis of fully authentic vocal expression and musical mastery. As a learning ground it offers not only a path to deepened musical and vocal skills, but also to self-awareness, to personal development through discovering and overcoming hindering believes and communication patterns, to inner freedom and most of all to great joy!
Well, we cannot go all the way during the limited time we´ll have together for now … but we will definitely get to the joy part – in structured as well as in free ensemble improvisations. You will explore the roles of accompanying (supporting), soloing (leading) and of equal communication – which are as important in improv as in other areas of life – and you will experience or deepen your connection to your voice, your musical inspiration and intuition.
You are very welcome to join – whether you are an experienced improviser / vocalist or completely new to the subject.
Oct. 1st, 2017
Mignon Remé (DE) „DRAMATURGY IN LONGFORM“
11 am – 2 pm @Gumpendorfer Str. 67/4, 1060 Vienna – TAG Rehearsal Room
This workshop is for improvisers with longform experience (intermediate and advanced) who want to experiment with and improve the quality of the narrative, character development and the arc of suspense. This may sound very theoretical but is actually a very hands on approach to telling good stories for 30 minutes or longer.
Mariadele Attanasio (IT) „ME & YOU“
11 am – 2 pm @ Königsegggasse 10, 1060 Vienn – VHS Clubsaal
This workshop is those who want to know more about relationships create on stage: it is for those who want to get to know better their partners on stage and to increase intimacy; it is for the actors who want to know themselves anche the others better, in order to live a more authentic relationship during their performances. Fleeting romance are born and die: or they turn into more lasting relationship, that become exciting and unique: stories that involve passion, brotherhood, hatred, love, friendship: This workshop will guide you around the world of these stories, through a maze of emotions whit the purpose of teaching you hap to menage them to build up funny, exciting and one-off stories. The workshop aims at: playing whit emotion, getting familiar whit new dramaturgical technique, overcoming the fright generated by true emotions, getting closer to your partners.
Keng-Sam Chane Chick Té (RE) „‚FANM‘ (‚women‘ in kreol )“
3.30 pm – 6.30 pm @Gumpendorfer Str. 67/4, 1060 Vienna – TAG Rehearsal Room
I’m working on this new format that only involves female players. I’ve been collecting for the past 6 months interviews about the way woman act in improv answering the questions as: What do we usually see on stage? What is the stereotypical way of acting? What are the roles that we never see them playing? And through those interviews I’ve collected some similar responses. This what i’m going to use for the workshop and the format. We will work on „what is feminity in a scene?“ and how we can flip this vision completely to free the acting. This is not an act of feminism, but a real question on how we as men and women see each other as players. The show we’ll required both men and women, and we’ll be seen in a “ a la ronde “ style of improv, but putting the emphasis on women in society.
Roland Trescher (DE) „FEED YOUR STAGE PIG – SOLO IMPROVISATION“
3.30 pm – 6.30 pm @ Königsegggasse 10, 1060 Vienna – VHS Clubsaal
Years ago I was fascinated by the feeling of doing a “solo harold” without knowing how to do it. Within the following years I learned and discovered techniques and approaches to feed my stage pig. Without offers from other team mates I have to face my own ideas, impulses and intuition to guide me through my characters and stories. In this workshop you will explore tools and techniques to get you into this flow. You will meet again basic improv – but this time you apply it to yourself. Teamwork with your “inner” team.
For players at mid level and experienced level.
Oct. 2nd, 2017
Omar Argentino Galván (AR) „REALITIES LEVELS – MAGIC REALISM“
3.30 pm – 6.30 pm @ Königsegggasse 10, 1060 Vienna – VHS Clubsaal
Omar Argentino Galvan shares his particular and evolving work always researching dramaturgy paths and performing resolutions not generally explore in the Improv. The poetic movement. The magic realism as an excuse and inspiration to learn and generate new shows. Ghosts, the not living characters, the reelection of empty space, reality planes, imaginary object 2.0 and sound painting strokes. A key workshop to discover and understand a Latin American style of improvisation as a theatrical expression.
